You might need to do it in case the cheque is lost, a mistaken payment, a cheque issued to the wrong person, insufficient funds in the account, or some other reasons.

The State Bank of India (SBI) has made it easier to stop or cancel a cheque payment online through their official net banking portal OnlineSBI (onlinesbi.sbi) and the YONO App.

Details required to stop an SBI cheque payment online
You will need the Cheque Number to stop a SBI Cheque payment online.
You also need to download the Yono SBI app or use the OnlineSBI portal. You will need your Internet Banking details and your registered mobile number to log into the app or portal.

In case you have forgotten your Internet Banking details, you can find your username and reset your password online. If you don’t have an internet banking account in SBI, you can register online.
Please note that charges will be applicable from the bank per cheque leaf stopped (Check charges).
Steps to stop SBI Cheque payment through OnlineSBI
To stop a SBI Cheque payment online through the OnlineSBI portal,
Step 1: Go to the official website of OnlineSBI

- First, go to the official website of SBI Internet Banking at onlinesbi.sbi
- Next, click on the ‘Login’ button under Personal Banking.
- Next, click on the ‘Continue to Login’ button.
- A new page opens up.
Step 2: Log in to your Internet Banking account
- On the new page, enter your internet banking username and password in the specified fields.
- Next, enter the captcha code and click on the ‘Login’ button.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Enter it in the specified field and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- You will be logged in.

Step 3: Select the ‘Stop Cheque Payment’ option

- Now, click on the ‘Request & Enquiry’ option.
- Next, click on the ‘Cheque Book Services’ option.
- A list of options will be shown on the screen.
- Next, click on the ‘Stop Cheque Payment’ option.
- A new page will open.
Step 4: Enter the cheque details

- Next, select the ‘Account No. /Nick Name’ from which the cheque was issued.
- Next, enter the ‘Start Cheque Number’ in the specified field.
- Next, enter the ‘End Cheque Number’ in the specified field. (Enter the same number if you want to stop only one cheque)
- Next, select the ‘Select instrument type’ from the given options.
- Next, select the ‘Stop Reasons’ from the given options.
- Next, tick the ‘Terms and Conditions’ box.

Step 5: Submit the stop cheque request
- Next, click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- A new page will open showing all the details entered. Click on the ‘Confirm’ button.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Next, enter the OTP in the specified field.
- Next, click on the ‘Submit’ button.
The cheque payment of the cheque numbers mentioned will be stopped.
By following these steps you can easily stop a SBI cheque payment online through the OnlineSBI portal.
You can also revoke the cheque stop by using the same portal if required.
Steps to stop SBI Cheque payment through SBI Yono
To stop a SBI Cheque payment online through the Yono SBI app,
Step 1: Open the ‘Yono SBI’ App
- Download the Yono app from the Play Store or App Store.
- Log in to the app using your Internet Banking Username and Password or MPIN.
- The dashboard will open up.
Step 2: Tap on the ‘Service Request’ option

- Now, tap on the ‘Menu’ button on the top left.
- Next, tap on the ‘Service Request’ option.
- Next, tap on the ‘Cheques’ option.
- Next, tap on the ‘Stop Cheque’ option.
- A new page will appear.

Step 3: Select and enter the cheque details

- Next, select the account from which the cheque was issued from the ‘Select Account’ field.
- Next, select the ‘Type of Cheque’ from the given options.
- Next, enter the ‘Cheque Number’ in the specified field.
- Next, select the ‘Stop Reason’ from the given options.
- Next, click on the ‘Next’ button.
- Next, click on the ‘Yes’ button.
- You can also stop multiple cheques by selecting the ‘Multiple Cheques’ option and filling in the required details.
The cheque payment will be stopped.
By following these steps you can easily stop a SBI cheque payment online through the YONO SBI App.
You can also revoke the cheque stop by using the same app if required.
